DEFINITION: The Director of Surgical Services is a registered professional nurse who assumes the administrative responsibility for all activities within Pre-Admissions, OR Scheduling, Operating Rooms, Central Sterile Processing, Pre-Op Area, Pain Management, and PACU. The Director is accountable for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality patient care services rendered to all patients during the peri-operative stage to ensure that all patient care needs of a diverse and complex nature are effectively and efficiently served. The Director supervises all nursing, technical, and ancillary staff in surgical services, identifying and resolving problems in a quick and decisive manner. The Director must create an environment that fosters teamwork and provides job satisfaction for all staff members, as well as effectively assess and plan for the professional growth of each staff member while utilizing the abilities, knowledge, and experience of each. The Director is accountable for the budget, staffing, nursing care hours, and patient acuity system, initiation of data collection and analysis to develop effective systems, and the monitoring of effeciency and productivity.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current License by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS). Bachelor's Degree (BSN) from four-year college or university; One to two years related experience and/or training.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters preferred, must be familiar with the Nurse Practice Act, Joint Commission Requirements, AORN Recommended Guidelines (for Operating Room), and Patients' Bill of Rights.

DEFINITION: The Registered Nurse, utilizing theoretical concepts as a basis for decisions in practice, will assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care in accordance with standards of nursing practice for adult/geriatric patients. DEFINITION: The Surgical Technician handles the instruments, supplies and equipment utilized during the surgical procedure. The technologist must understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon. The Surgical Technician conveys instruments and supplies to the surgeon, assists the surgeon as necessary, and is responsible for maintenance of the sterile field.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Graduation from a surgical technology training program or related training and/or experience; Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous Operating Room experience desired, especially in Orthopedics, but not mandatory.

DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the MRI Supervisor/Radiologist, the MRI Technologist shall be responsible for performing imaging procedures as prescribed by the Physicians under the direction of a Radiologist while maintaining any licensing, continuing education and abiding by all State and Federal safety regulations as required by law, and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of McBride Orthopedic Hospital. The MRI Technologist should be demonstrate wise use of time, energy, and resources to function within the confines of the approved budget for the MRI Department and perform all work according to the mission, vision and values of McBride.
